TRiO Student Support ServicesTRIOLogo

The TRiO Student Support Services program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.  Our purpose is to provide guidance, advocacy and academic support to low income, first generation and disabled students seeking to earn an associates degree and/or transfer to a four year institution. Services are offered within a very intensive, integrated and individualized contact system that encourages participants to develop persistence, self-discipline, responsibility and confidence.  Fostering of these lifelong learning skills, within the context of a learning community, enables academic, personal and professional success. All services provided to participants in the program are FREE.

TRiO programs have a long history of highly successful student-centered retention strategies dating back to 1964. Today we continue to open the door of opportunity and access to higher education for disadvantaged students, regardless of race, ethnicity or culture – making our participants successful, dedicated and highly motivated scholars. Our goal in TRiO is to assist participants in overcoming barriers that affect academic success in order to increase the retention and graduation rates of its participants and facilitate the process of transition from one level of higher education to the next.
