Course Equivalency Request

A course equivalency request allows a student to request a review of a transferred course from a previously attended institution.  If there is a question about your transfer credit evaluation, please contact courseequiv@csn.edu.

To transfer your previously completed credits to CSN, please submit your official college transcript(s) to the Office of the Registrar.  If you have already submitted your official college transcript(s), please continue checking your MyCSN student account for your transfer credit report.  The transfer credit report is the official evaluation of your previously completed credit(s).

If CSN does not have an exact equivalent course, you may be assigned a different course or a Lower Division Elective Credit (LELC) or Upper Division Elective Credit (UELC) (i.e., MATH LELC or ENG LELC).  If this is the case, you can request the appropriate academic department to review the course in question to see if there is a CSN equivalent.   Follow the instructions for Submitting a Course Equivalency Request Form and use the Course Equivalency Request Form to have the department review your course.

You will need the following information to submit your request:

  1. A copy of the front cover of the transfer institution's catalog
  2. A copy of the accreditation page for the transfer institution
  3. A copy of the course description from the transfer institution's catalog OR copy of the course description from the transfer institution's website.  NOTE: Make sure the URL is visible at the bottom of the printed page.

Most colleges provide course descriptions online or through the course catalog.  Please contact your prior institution for assistance with information.  It is not CSN's responsibility to acquire this information.

If you wish to dispute a course equivalency, please contact the academic department from which you are requesting your equivalency.
