Education Abroad
Cross-cultural communication skills, global and cultural awareness, international experience, and foreign language skills are becoming more important in all areas of work and study. By taking part in a study, research, internship, or service-learning experience, you can develop critical skills and characteristics that will give you an advantage, both after you transfer and throughout your career.
CSN offers a variety of faculty led programs, ranging from 7-14 days long, as well as additional short and long-term programs through our international partners. More information about Summer 2023 programs will be linked here soon.

Step-by-Step
Education Abroad is here to help you at any point of the process, from choosing the perfect program to applying for a passport. Here is a general overview of the steps to take when participating in an international experience.
1. Researching & Advising
Talk with your academic advisor about your interest in an international experience, even if you're unsure of what type of program you'd like to go on. As your academic advisor knows your degree plan and what courses you have left to take, we recommend discussing the following with them:
- What courses are currently available on your degree plan.
- If there are any classes you CANNOT take abroad or any other restrictions you should know.
- The possibility of “saving” classes, like electives, to take later in your academic career on a program.
- How an internship would fit into your degree plan.
After speaking with your academic advisor, research program options and schedule an appointment with Education Abroad to discuss which might be a good fit.
It's important to plan ahead for this investment in your future. All fees and tuition must be paid prior to departure, so be sure to speak with Financial Aid and Education Abroad for internal and external funding options.
Complete all signature documents and forms and await an acceptance decision.
In addition to individual research and preparations for your upcoming experience, all students are required to participate in a Program Orientation. This orientation will cover items such as health and safety, culture shock, security, expectations, and travel recommendations.
Engage with the program and the host country, taking in the history and culture, while completing your assignments.
After taking part in an international experience, many students want to share their experience and even participate in another! Reach out to Education Abroad to learn about ways to get involved on campus, take part in another international experience, complete a bachelor's degree abroad, or work overseas after graduation.
