Nature of Work

Funeral Directors and Arrangers oversee and coordinate all details of a funeral. This includes visitation, preparation of obituaries, services, burials, cremations, arranging for pallbearers and clergy services, and scheduling the opening and closing of a grave with cemetery representatives. They also provide caring, emotional support to families and friends of the deceased. An Embalmer is responsible for preparing bodies for funeral services including sanitizing and preserving them. Graduates of this program are needed on a local and statewide basis.
