Nursing Assistant (CC)

Students registered and enrolled in this program must attend a mandatory orientation (not the same as the health programs orientation). Please refer to the current semester class schedule for the dates, location, and times.


Nature of Work

The nursing assistant is an important part of the nursing care team. A nursing assistant is a person who, under the direction of a licensed nurse, performs basic nursing and assistant restorative services for patients and clients which involve:

  • Safety
  • Comfort
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Basic Mental Health
  • Protection of the Patient
  • Protection of Patient Rights
  • Observation and Reporting


Nursing Assistant (CC) Requirements

Note: Students are required to both read and write English at an 8th-grade level; therefore, students are required to have either completed ENG 100 or higher or achieved a score of at least 237 on the Next Generation Accuplacer Reading Placement test at a CSN testing center in order to be eligible to register for the Nursing Assistant course. Additionally, students are expected to meet all admission criteria, and matriculating students are expected to meet all progression criteria, as well as these Essential Functions of Nursing StudentsStudents with documented need for accommodation are to meet with the Disability Resources Center.
