The Department of Biological Sciences enrolls thousands of students every semester, many of them taking prerequisites for programs in the Ralph & Betty Engelstad School of Health Sciences, while others are working on their general education requirements. We offer both a general Associate of Science Degree and an Associate of Science Degree in Biological Sciences, a degree designed for those specifically wanting to pursue a career in science or medicine.
The department is home to the SciNight and the INBRE Biomedical Exploration Workshop, a five-week summer program that allows students to explore different career options in the biomedical sciences. There are also a variety of research opportunities for students, who often can conduct independent research that can lead to new discoveries suitable for publication.
